AAYLC Ambassador Engagement Series
Connecting Students to Chinese American History and Contributions in Oregon

The October AAYLC Ambassador Engagement event brought the students to the North Oregon Coast. Portland Lodge member and Designer of Garden of Surging Waves, Suenn Ho gave an animated and informative presentation about the garden and how it serves as a reminder not only of Chinese contributions to Astoria and the Pacific Northwest, but to Oregon's early ties to China that were first developed in the days of John Jacob Astor, and have flourished over the last 200 years. The day trip also included bonding activities for the students.

Planning for the 2023 Asian American Youth Leadership (AAYLC) is underway. We are excited to share that the Planning Team is 29 members strong with 55% of the members represented by current students and alumni. We are delighted to have valuable student voice represented in the planning process.

Let us know if you are interested to serve as a volunteer on the day of the conference. We need workshop facilitators and presenters, campus greeters and monitors, runners and etc. Please contact Helen Ying, Chair@AAYLC.org for more details if you are interested.
